Job Description

About the Role: We are looking for a Field Canvassing Manager to lead our canvassing efforts and generate leads for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in lead generation and have experience managing a high-performing team.

About Us: Since 1946, HL Bowman has remained a family-owned business. Our current Enders team of father-and-son owners, Dennis and Bryan Enders are the second and third generations at our helm. Back in 1946, Herb Bowman started the business with Dennis’s parents. After Herb stepped down due to illness, Dennis’s parents continued the business with the American business dream in their sights—growing it organically with just the two of them. At HL Bowman, we treat both our residential and commercial customers with respect. You are family to us. From our very beginning, we base how we treat you on how we want to be treated. This resonates throughout every aspect of our HL Bowman team—from our phone interactions to our home appointments to our billing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead door-to-door marketing efforts to generate leads for residential service offerings.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage canvassing routes in high-probability neighborhoods, including evenings and weekends.
  • Recruit, hire, and train Field Canvassers to deliver consistent messaging and maintain brand professionalism.
  • Establish and track team performance metrics tied to lead volume, quality, and territory efficiency.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with all permitting requirements and local regulations for canvassing activities.
  • Hold regular team meetings to give the team the information and motivation they need to succeed.
  • Provide coaching, support, and ongoing development to ensure canvassers meet or exceed performance expectations.
  • Collaborate with local Sales, Dispatch, and Service Managers to align marketing efforts with business goals and customer needs.
  • Analyze performance data and provide reports on ROI, lead quality, and territory results.
  • Support canvassers by being in the field with your team and modeling high-quality engagement with homeowners.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of team leadership experience in canvassing, field marketing, or residential home services.
  • Proven success in lead generation and/or in-home service marketing (HVAC, plumbing, electric, etc.).
  • Strong recruiting, onboarding, and team coaching skills.
  • Ability to build trust quickly with homeowners and motivate canvassing teams to perform in the field.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in a fast-paced, goal-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of field marketing best practices, including compliance and local ordinance navigation.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Interpersonal Qualifications:

  • Customer service focus and mindset, putting our employees and Partners first, with excellent ability to communicate and develop relationships.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities to improve things both big and small.
  • Highly organized, ability to act quickly while still having attention to detail.
  • Hold yourself to a higher standard and exhibit a high level of integrity.
