Tourists Hotel is now hiring for Kitchen Staff!!

We are a small, fun, and engaging group looking to grow our BOH kitchen team for the upcoming summer season. We are looking for passionate, curious, and hardworking line people looking to develop their cooking skills. We strongly encourage people of all backgrounds to apply. About us:

TOURISTS’ goal in all positions is to exceed expectations of our guests. The Kitchen staff contributes to that experience by providing service that includes, but is not limited to, planning, executing, or coordinating food service for multiple venues within the Property. The Kitchen staff interacts with the Food and Beverage team to ensure timely service and appropriate presentation. Other tasks may be assigned based on property needs. The Kitchen staff must develop and maintain the company’s culture, values and reputation in the public eye, and with all staff, guests, vendors and partners.


Essential Functions

  • Maintain an open mind and willingness to learn
  • Support the Executive Chef organizing work schedules and assignments
  • Provide mentorship to Line and Prep Cooks
  • Ensure that all products delivered are received in correct unit count and condition
  • Cook and prepare foods using standardized recipes
  • Willing to keep a high level of cleanliness and safety in work areas.
  • Maintaining equipment in good, safe working condition.
  • Complying with food safety regulations.
  • Keeping abreast of and complying with safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements.


Education & Experience

  1. High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or relevant trade school training
  2. three to four years related experience in commercial kitchen setting
  3. Have a current ServSafe Manager Certification.


Competencies

  1. Knowledge of seasonal and local ingredient availability and trends
  2. Ability to utilize terminology of a commercial kitchen
  3. Demonstrated abilities in portion control, knife skills, plating, execution of recipe
  4. Demonstrated abilities in communication, problem solving, leadership
  5. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  7. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced meal service period
  8. Ability to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
  9. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
