At Cramer, event production is both a craft and a team sport — and the Director of Production sits at the center of it. This senior leader brings together strategy, creativity, and operational excellence to guide our largest, most complex programs while also nurturing the people, processes, and culture that power our work.

The Director of Production is responsible for the full lifecycle of live, in‑person event programs: from early strategic conversations and creative development through onsite execution and post‑event reconciliation. They partner closely with clients, internal teams, and executive leadership to ensure every experience is purposeful, beautifully executed, and aligned with client goals.

This role also plays a critical part in shaping the Production department itself — strengthening workflows, developing talent, and ensuring our teams have the clarity, tools, and support they need to do their best work. It’s a role for someone who leads with confidence, communicates with empathy, and thrives in a fast‑moving, collaborative environment.

Travel required: approximately 15-20%

What You’ll Do

Lead with Vision

  • Partner with clients to define the strategic and creative direction of their events, ensuring alignment with brand standards and business objectives.
  • Serve as the senior point of contact for high‑level clients, guiding conversations, presenting concepts, and building long‑term trust.
  • Shape and support solution design of a projects that align to client objectives

Own the Production Experience

  • Oversee all aspects of event production — A/V, staging, lighting, scenic, run‑of‑show, rehearsals, and onsite leadership.
  • Build and manage detailed scopes of work, project timelines, budgets, and production schedules.
  • Oversee multiple workstreams, ensuring alignment with the overarching event vision.
  • Monitor quality of work performed by team members throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Anticipate risks, develop contingency plans, and ensure flawless execution.
  • Lead talent and entertainment management, vendor partnerships, and cross‑functional production teams.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reconciliation in partnership with Account Management.

Strengthen Our Operations

  • Partner with senior leadership to guide department operations and communication.
  • Lead department meetings, share company and team updates, and help cultivate a positive, connected team culture.
  • Evaluate and refine production processes to remove friction, improve efficiency, and elevate client service.
  • Drive adoption of new tools and technologies to enhance workflows and productivity.
  • Streamline financial management practices and budget workflows.
  • Collaborate with other department leaders to improve team communication and dynamics.

Develop and Support Our People

  • Build thoughtful staffing plans that align team strengths with client needs.
  • Monitor team capacity and work allocations, ensuring balanced workloads and proactive forecasting of scalable resources.
  • Oversee onboarding, training and management of production staff.
  • Mentor and coach staff, deliver real-time feedback
  • Lead training initiatives and support professional development for production team members.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in live event production, agency environments, or similar settings.
  • Proven ability to lead large‑scale programs and cross‑functional teams with confidence and clarity.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget creation and oversight.
  • Demonstrated strengths in client leadership, team management, problem‑solving, and operational excellence.
  • Exceptional communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable navigating fast‑paced environments.
  • Experience with executive presentation management, event technology, video formats, and video/print production is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint, O365, and project management tools preferred.

Salary Range: $130-170K
