Early Childhood - Teacher Associate

Our early childhood center is looking for a compassionate and committed Individual Support Aideto join our preschool classroom team.The Early Learning Center Individual Support Aide will work in our preschool classroom for 16 hours, four days a week, Mon/Tues/Thur/Fri 8 am-12 pm, Wed 8am-3pm and during public school breaks,(including summer!) five days a week, 8 am - 3 pm with a 30-minute unpaid break. They will work 1-1 with a student identified as needing instructional and behavioral support in the classroom. This student loves playing with trucks, cars, trains and doing large whole body movement activities. Sensory -based play experiences help to support this student during their day-day at school.This position is available immediately and will be posted until filled. Our 1-1 individual support aide will provide support under the direction of the lead teachers and in coordination with service providers to create a caring and safe environment for the child and will assist in program engagement to improve the overall care and quality of education received. *This position can be shared between two people and hours can be flexible for the right candidate* Duties Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

<li>Under the direction of the classroom teacher and service providers, provide individual instruction and behavioral support to assigned student.</li>
<li>Assist in preparing individual lessons, materials, and equipment to implement academic programming</li>
<li>Provide input in the development of student goals and objectives</li>
<li>Provide information relative to student's progress for quarterly and annual reviews</li>
<li>Knowledge of assigned student's behavior plan and supervise student behavior</li>
<li>Knowledge and participation in the routines of the day and support the child's participation in planned activities and procedures</li>
<li>Demonstrate knowledge of child development and individual differences and implement all necessary components in assigned student's programming needs</li>
<li>Understand and implement safety procedures of the program and student assigned</li>
<li>Participate in training and development sessions as assigned</li>
</ul>

Requirements A 1-1 Aide must meet the minimum qualifications and training as described in the Vermont State Child Care Program Licensing Regulations. In addition, the 1-1 Aide should have:

<li>At least 18 years of age</li>
<li>A high school diploma or equivalent.</li>
<li>At least successful completion of a 3 college credit course in child or human development or a 3 college credit course in school age care and education and 12 months experience working with groups of children from grade 3 or younger OR completion of the Fundamentals for Early Childhood Professionals' course within the first 12 months of employment.</li>
<li>Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to complete).</li>
<li>A satisfactory fingerprinted background check.</li>
<li>A strong understanding of child development and early childhood education.</li>
<li>Ability to work well with others (staff, children, service providers and parents/guardians) and to foster a team environment.</li>
<li>Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.</li>
<li>Ability to meet the physical demands of the job:</li>
<li>Work is often performed in a typical non-office environment requiring:</li>
<li>Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time</li>
<li>Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction</li>
