<li>Monthly responsibilities include: harvesting and big leafing, applying predatory insects, hanging sticky cards for IPM monitoring, helping with monthly on-hand inventory counts, assisting with safety meetings, taking clones, and rotating mother plants.</li>
<li>Responsible to follow all applicable operational guidelines, comply with verbal directives, and practice and/or implement all safety, security, sanitation, policies, procedures, rules, skills, and the like presented during training, by management, in Standard Operating Procedures, or otherwise when performing job duties. </li>

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

<li>Degree in Horticulture,&nbsp;Plant Science, Agronomy, Plant Biology, or related field, or a&nbsp;minimum of 2 years of experience cultivating plants, or registered&nbsp;in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Pharmacy Technician</li>
<li>Must pass background and drug screening</li>
<li>Knowledge of large-scale commercial plant cultivation, including but not limited to, nutrient requirements, growing media, light requirements, temperature control, and airflow. </li>
<li>Experience with compliance systems.</li>
<li>Advanced cannabis plant and genetics knowledge. </li>
<li>Must accept accountability, have a proactive attitude, and demonstrate consistent attention to detail.</li>
<li>Active listening and effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate to a variety of audiences, are critical. </li>
<li>Basic math skills are necessary.</li>

Position Objective
To provide day-to-day management coordination and oversight for our pasture-based dairy and livestock operations, collaborating with farm colleagues to advance the mission, vision and goals of Shelburne Farms. 
 
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of this position is to lead the stewardship of high quality farm livestock operations at Shelburne Farms. It is expected that this position will be a hands-on, working manager. Important management considerations and responsibilities include soil, animal, and human health, water quality, biodiversity, carbon sequestration, operations planning, staff support, budgeting, and performance monitoring. 
 
Herd Health
Support our herdsmen with implementing livestock health strategies based on soil fertility, good nutrition and best husbandry practices, making every effort to prevent the need for antibiotics. 
Food System Support 
Work closely with our herdsmen and the cheesemaking team to maintain the highest possible milk quality, and coordinate with our chefs and store staff for lamb and beef supply and use.
 
Pasture and Crops Management 
Work with staff on intensive rotational grazing and forage production management without the use of chemical herbicides or pesticides, minimizing purchased grain and maximizing environmental and health benefits. Oversee and coordinate compost and manure management and winter hay and silage feed production and storage. 
 
Facilities and Equipment Maintenance
Oversee the maintenance of a neat and safe farmstead, working with staff to monitor, service and repair farm buildings, infrastructure, milking systems, machinery and equipment. Coordinate with the Agricultural Stewardship Manager and Buildings and Landscape Manager on engaging contractor services. 
 
Management and Record Keeping Systems
Work with staff on management systems and ensuring the upkeep of up to date and accurate livestock records, including herd health and production, registration and genomic information, soil fertility and crops production, and equipment repair and maintenance records. Provide information and other support for farm cost sharing programs.
 
Public Interaction, Programs and Research Support
Represent Shelburne Farms in a friendly and professional manner in interactions with Farm visitors, Inn guests, resident neighbors, educators, staff, and board members. Support collaboration with research projects. Maintain a dairy that represents the dairy industry and the farm in a positive light. Exhibit excellent customer service skills when interacting with the public, relate to a diverse range of people, and exercise cultural competence and inclusion. 
 
Other
Farm work includes chores and all phases of the farm’s operation. Provide support as needed to other Shelburne Farms’ operations.

Job Summary
The primary responsibilities of the irrigation assistant are to work with irrigation leadership to ensure the performance and functionality of all equipment in and related to the water room as well as the irrigation in the flower rooms. On weekdays only, various cleaning processes are implemented to maintain the various systems used within the Water Room. Other tasks include scouting irrigation events in flower rooms, performing maintenance, as well as assisting with ongoing projects and upgrades throughout the facility. Key Responsibilities:
1. System Installation &amp; Setup
<ul>
<li>Assist with installing pipes, valves, sprinklers, and controllers under the direction of senior or lead technicians.</li>
<li>Follow site plans and layouts to ensure proper placement and alignment of components.</li>

2. Maintenance &amp; Repair
<ul>
<li>Perform basic troubleshooting of irrigation components, such as replacing faulty heads or repairing minor leaks.</li>
<li>Conduct routine inspections, identifying issues for escalation to senior team members if needed.</li>
</ul>
3. Controller Programming
<ul>
<li>Learn to program and adjust irrigation controllers based on seasonal requirements.</li>
<li>Adhere to recommended watering schedules to promote efficient water usage.</li>
</ul>
4. Safety &amp; Compliance
<ul>
<li>Follow company safety protocols and industry regulations while on job sites.</li>
<li>Ensure tools and equipment are used correctly and maintained in good condition.</li>

5. Team Support
<ul>
<li>Collaborate with the Irrigation Division Manager, Lead Irrigation Technician, and other team members to achieve project goals.</li>
<li>Communicate effectively about project statuses, supply needs, and any challenges encountered.</li>

Qualifications:
1. Experience
<ul>
<li>12 years of experience in irrigation installation, landscaping, or a related field (or equivalent training)..</li>
</ul>
2. Technical Skills
<ul>
<li>Basic understanding of irrigation systems, components, and layout.</li>
<li>Willingness to learn programming and troubleshooting of different controller types.</li>
</ul>
3. Certifications
<ul>
<li>Valid drivers license with a clean driving record preferred.</li>
<li>Any irrigation-related certifications are a plus but not required.</li>
</ul>
4. Physical Requirements
<ul>
<li>Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.</li>
<li>Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and digging.</li>
