Summary of Position: Hours: Per Diem/On-call as needed; possible shifts Monday – Sunday, Days/Evenings Union:&nbsp;Yes Union Name:&nbsp;1199 SEIU Patient Facing:&nbsp;No Maintenance Tech III is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance for Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program’s buildings and grounds.&nbsp; Responsibilities include managing work orders, identifying and executing building repairs, and responding to general maintenance issues and emergencies in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, hands-on experience, and be able to work independently and as part of a team.&nbsp; This position reports to the Director of Facilities. Primary Duties:
<ul>
<li>Resolve daily work order requests</li>
<li>Provide preventative and corrective maintenance throughout the properties</li>
<li>Inspect building and/or grounds as necessary</li>
<li>Replace light bulbs, electrical fixtures, plumbing fixtures, filters, ceiling tiles, door hardware, locks, and make keys</li>
<li>Perform wall repair, flooring repair, and painting</li>
<li>Wear necessary safety attire and/or use appropriate equipment</li>
<li>Respond to emergencies after hours, evenings and weekends, and ice and snow removal</li>
<li>Work with contractors, as necessary</li>
<li>Perform daily mechanical inspections</li>
<li>Participate in annual fire drills </li>
<li>Meet requests for remote BHCHP locations – 20 locations in the Boston area </li>
<li>Oversee Routine Preventative Maintenance Schedule</li>
<li>Performs other duties as required or assigned</li>
</ul>
Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>High school diploma or relevant technical school certification preferred</li>
<li>Knowledge of OSHA and facilities maintenance in a healthcare setting preferred</li>
<li>Experience in some or all of the following areas: basic plumbing, basic electrical, general carpentry, tiling, locks, painting, grounds keeping, cleaning/janitorial</li>
<li>Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required</li>
<li>Basic computer skills required</li>
<li>Carry out detailed oral or written instructions independently</li>
<li>Must be self-motivated; enjoy working with a diverse population</li>
<li>Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English</li>
<li>Must be able to work alone as well as in a team environment</li>
<li>Must wear appropriate clothing, at all times</li>
</ul>
Physical and Mental Requirements:
<ul>
<li>Able to lift up to 75 pounds</li>
<li>Able to climb and descend stairs,&nbsp;basement, and&nbsp; through roof of Jean Yawkey Place</li>
<li>Able to bend and stoop, sit and stand for long periods of time</li>
</ul>
Compensation:
<ul>
<li>The compensation is $22.00 per hour</li>
