About the position:
As a member of E Ink’s Process Development Team, the Senior Chemical Process Systems Engineer will be entrusted with fulfilling our mission of bringing smart displays to the world. This role is responsible for creating, improving, and maintaining pilot-scale systems that enable commercial-scale production of E Ink’s unique electrophoretic materials – including pigments, colloidal dispersions, microcapsules, and other additives.
We’re looking for someone who can help us build what we need, but also someone who can figure out what we should be building in the first place. This candidate will have experience designing and building specialized equipment and will be excited to drive equipment-based innovation across the organization!
Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Design new process systems. Create PFDs, evaluate alternative technologies, generate P&amp;IDs, perform engineering calculations, draft fabrication drawings, work with outside vendors to select and customize process equipment, select components, and size lines</li>
<li>Lead the installation of new process systems in collaboration with both internal and external teams</li>
<li>Act as a companywide technical resource on process equipment such as reactor vessel design, pumps, mixers, temperature control systems, and sensors</li>
<li>Evaluate, select, and communicate with all relevant third-party vendors (piping, controls, etc.) required for the design and installation of new process equipment</li>
<li>Perform hands-on assembly, modification, commissioning, and troubleshooting of new and existing pilot-scale chemical process systems</li>
<li>Collaborate cross-functionally to coordinate capabilities within Development and Research departments, communicate support needs to Facilities department, and ensure responsiveness to EHS requirements</li>
</ul>
Qualifications
<ul>
<li>BS or MS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience</li>
<li>7+ years of industrial process systems engineering experience</li>
<li>Ability to read P&amp;IDs, process flow diagrams, and fabrication drawings</li>
<li>Experience sizing and selecting chemical fluid lines, pumps, valves, and instrumentation</li>
<li>Basic electrical knowledge to read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot low voltage circuitry</li>
<li>Working knowledge of process automation (P&amp;ID controllers, instrumentation, transmitters, VFDs, PLCs)</li>
<li>Experience troubleshooting processes and equipment</li>
<li>Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on attitude</li>
<li>Clear and effective communication skills</li>
<li>Ability to function effectively as a member of cross-functional, cross-disciplinary, and inter-corporate teams</li>

E Ink is seeking an innovative and results-focused Materials Informatics Scientist to help define and develop data-driven workflows for inverse material design. You will develop, train and test data-driven models that connect chemistry to product and leverage a deep understanding of materials to collaborate with research scientists to turn these insights into measurable performance benefits. As part of our innovative team, you will be instrumental in enabling these pipelines to operate at scale, with the goal of &gt;100x in throughput over the next year. In this role, you will work in a collaborative development team environment and work closely with other research teams. You will be responsible for executing in-silico / lab experiments and communicating activities and results. As a member of this new initiative, you will be expected to take a leadership role in spearheading this new initiative and delivering results.
