· Will provide transportation for residents in vehicles approved by Agency. In emergency situations, staff may be required to transport clients in their own vehicles.

· Will participate in the development of resident’s programs, i.e. Service Agreements, Behavior Programs, Strategies and Client Centered Conferences.

Summary: The Home and Community Direct Support Professional (DSP) helps individuals with developmental disabilities or acquired brain injury live independently in their homes and communities. This caregiving role involves a variety of duties ranging from direct care, to assisting an individual with grocery shopping, meal preparation, personal care, attending community events, staying connected with friends and family, maintaining health, assisting with decision making about schedules and daily activities.
Direct Support Professional work is varied, creative, flexible, and rewarding. It offers the opportunity to assist someone to reach their full potential and life as independently as possible. Positions are typically part time with some fulltime opportunities available. Extensive training provided.
Essential Functions:
<ol>
<li>DSPs provide support in helping individuals develop independent living skills including social skills, cooking, communication, money management, community activities, household duties, safety, health, and personal hygiene.</li>
<li>DSPs assist individuals in accessing and engaging in community and social activities. These could include going out to eat, attending concerts or movies, building friendships, volunteering, taking walks, or participating in sports or workouts. DSPs provide transportation to community activities, and must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.</li>
<li>DSPs support individuals in achieving goals outlined in their service agreements. They accurately track an individual's progress, inform the Program Manager of any changes affecting an individual's well-being, injury, illness, and health or emotional changes.</li>
<li>DSPs complete required documentation (daily notes, medication logs, incident reports, progress notes, etc.) accurately and on time, and adhere to all regulations, policies and procedures. <li>DSPs administer medication if the individual is unable to self-administer, as determined by the agency nurse. Medication training is provided by the agency.</li>

Must complete all MDS training within six months of hire and annually thereafter.

Pay: $21-$22 per hour (Pay based on experience and MAP Certification)
Hours: 8am – 4pm
Location: Rowley, MA - 305 Newburyport Turnpike (Route 1)
The NEEDS Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. We are currently hiring 8 Direct Care Support Professionals who will help the adults we serve live as independently and fully as possible. This is more than just a job—it’s an opportunity to start a meaningful career with a growing organization that offers training, support, and opportunities for advancement.
No experience is necessary. As a new employee, you are provided with a paid 7-day Orientation and will receive training on CPR/First Aid, Safety Care, and Medication Administration Program (MAP). You will also receive program-specific training at your work site.
Responsibilities include:
<ul>
<li>Assisting and supporting adults with developmental disabilities with daily living skills, personal care, and household tasks.</li>
<li>Supporting our individuals in making independent decisions and participating in valued community roles.</li>
<li>Performing light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment, including cleaning common areas and ensuring personal spaces are tidy.</li>
<li>Help to implement clinical, educational and vocational programs.</li>
<li>Observe and record data for programs established in their Individual and Behavior support plans.</li>
<li>Participate with other team members to create a therapeutic environment that includes participating and supporting individuals at community events.</li>
<li>Administer medications or support individuals in self-medication (if you have MAP certification).</li>
</ul>
Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>High school diploma, GED, or equivalent REQUIRED</li>
<li>Valid Driver’s License and good driving record</li>
<li>Experience with behavior management preferred (but not necessary)</li>
<li>Ability and willingness to provide hands-on personal care to adults with developmental disabilities.</li>
<li>Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.</li>
<li>Ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse team.</li>
<li>Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and remain alert during shifts.</li>
