Summary: The Direct Support Professional will provide support and assistance to people with developmental, physical and psychiatric disabilities as needed based on the needs of the residential program assigned. The Direct Support Professional will provide support to people in our services who need daily intervention, supervision and skills training in activities of daily living while managing within a home environment and in the community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

<li>Provide support and assist people in our services with skills training in all activities of daily living during the day, evening and/or overnight hours (depending on the shift the employee is assigned).</li>
<li>Create opportunities and provide support to people in our services to make decisions to develop their skills and foster independence.</li>
<li>Provide services to people in our services according to DDS, DMH, MassHealth, HUD, DPH, CARF and all applicable regulatory standards, as well as Bridgewell policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Provide support and assist people in our services with all medical, clinical and financial needs.</li>
<li>Transport and accompany people in our services as needed to and from medical, recreational and other activities outside the program.</li>
<li>Maintain daily progress notes, shift checklists, shift assignments and other required documentation according to DDS, DMH, MassHealth, HUD, DPH, CARF and all applicable regulatory standards as well as Bridgewell policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Complete household cleaning duties as assigned.</li>
<li>Conduct all steady care calls as per guidelines (applies to all awake overnight shifts)</li>
<li>Assist people in our services with accessing resources and recreational opportunities in the community.</li>
<li>Administer medications according to MAP regulations, as applicable.</li>
<li>Maintain all mandatory training certifications such as FA/CPR, PABC and MAP (not all all-inclusive list). </li>
<li>Maintain additional mandated certifications and trainings as required by the program and Bridgewell policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Develop positive relationships with guardians, family members and other stakeholders.</li>
<li>Serve as the program's specific Fire Safety Officer or Safety Coordinator or Human Rights Officer. </li>

Required Education/Experience:

Physical Demands:
The physical demands of employees working in residential programs assisting people with their care needs are varied and require the employee to be able to maneuver people of varying weights, and provide lifting, balanced support and physical intervention in a few scenarios.

The on-call caregiver should be a seasoned, experienced caregiver for senior citizens. HHA or CNA certification is desired, but a strong work history with elderly clients would be seriously considered if applicant was non-certified.&nbsp; The on-call caregiver has potential to make a significant amount of money. Full time work, overtime pay and a flat rate on call payment could all be combined in one pay period to make for a large payout.&nbsp; Referral bonus, sign on bonus, mileage pay, merit bonus, holiday pay and more are also available.&nbsp; The main function of the on-call&nbsp;caregiver is to be available outside of regular business hours to the On Call Supervisor in order to fill last minute call outs and urgent client needs.&nbsp; To assist clients in their own homes with activities of daily living, boost their spirits, and significantly improve their quality of life, by delivering quality and safe home health care services. The On Call Caregiver accepts responsibility for his/her own actions and:

<li>Agrees to be On Call during specific hours and specific days. </li>

<li>Provide skin care with observation for pressure areas and sores and knowledge of preventive measures.</li>
<li>Assist clients in and out of bed using safe transfer techniques, including the use of gait belts and mechanical lifting equipment, when applicable (with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency).</li>
<li>Assist clients with walking, including the use of walkers, canes and wheelchairs, when applicable.</li>
<li>Assist with cuing of self-administered medications.</li>
<li>Assist with meal preparation and feeding, when required.</li>
<li>Observe, report, and document client status and care provided.</li>
<li>Practice basic infection control procedures.</li>
<li>Document changes in client status, and report to appropriate staff members.</li>
<li>Maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment in the client’s home.</li>
<li>Recognize emergencies and contacting emergency personnel and supervisor when necessary.</li>
<li>Understand the physical, developmental and emotional needs of the populations served.</li>
<li>Treat the client and his/her property with respect.</li>
